Letters from Lizz
This week I have been given a wonderful opportunity. Calling myself a Luddite with a certain measure of pride when it came to computer use, I grudgingly allowed myself to be enrolled in a summer program called Summercore. Despite my best efforts, I found myself not only learning computer skills but enjoying the process along the way. I am at the very end of the generation known as Baby Boomers, coming of age in the days of Smith-Corona and IBM Selectric typewriters. I have watched as my college aged children passed me by in the realm of technology, masking my embarrassment with false pride.
Now, after just three days, I feel competent and close to confident, preparing a PowerPoint. I understand how to prepare an Excel spreadsheet and I have a passing familiarity with many more computer applications.
I look forward to translating this into my work in the classroom and the community that is Room 100.
